5.4 Map Viewer Setting

(1) View Setting

Whether coordination lines and borders should be displayed can be set up by [View] - [View Options] or by  button.

There are following setup items.

Place Name
Setting of place names visible or invisible

If the [Popup View] is checked only icons for the place names are displayed. When the icon is pointed by the mouse the place name will be displayed as a popup.

In the [Select Layer] group you can specify the layer of the place name to be displayed. When [Automatic] is selected the layers displayed are selected automatically so that no place name is masked by other place name. When [Over Level 2] is selected for instance place names on the layer 2 .. 5 are displayed. The larger as layer number the higher the priority.

Landmark

Terrain
Unit of the height for the coloring can be set up.
Relief display is also possible.

There are following two different relief displays.
[Relief1] looks like atlas and is suitable for large area. Even for an expansion it provides beautiful overview with high speed.
[Relief2] is suitable for detailed displaying. The displaying speed could become slowly.

[Counter] displays relief expression with stepped coloring. This provides an clear overview of counters.

[Light Direction] defines direction of the lightning for the relief expression.

[True Color Map] enables true color display of the map. This provides a beautiful representation of the map but it requires large memory space (3 times). Please use this option only when you have much memory space.

Lat/Long Lines
Visibility switch of the latitude and longitude lines.
Distances can be also defined.

[Line Color]
The color of the latitude and longitude lines can be selected from the list.

[Quick Step]
Latitude and longitude lines can be defined with predefined distances.

[Style] [Width] [Color]

Visibility of the GPS routing data and waypoint, mark, font and color can be set up.

[Use Local Time]
specifies whether local time or UTC is used as time displayed for GPS edit.

VAM (Visible Area Map)
[Transparent View]
This enables a transparency of the visible area so that the map beneath it becomes visible. It is useful when you use the visibility area superimposing any map of a commercial software.

[Color of Area]
defines color of the visible area.

View Options
[Display Calculation Border]
shows the calculated area for the visibility by red line.

[Display View at Scrolling]
defines whether the view is redrawn for each scrolling. When it is checked the scrolling speed is reduced because of the redrawing.

[Blink Selected Item]
blinks items selected in place name editor or GPS editor on the map. Uncheck this option when it is not necessary.

[Big Tool Bar]
defined the size of the tool bar.

[Link Icon Visible]
defines whether the linked icons are displayed on the map.

[State Border Visible]
defines whether the state borders are displayed.
The state borders in the data were read by digitizer. They are not enough precise.

[Lake Icon Visible]
defines whether the lake icons are displayed on the lakes.

[Correct Map Aspect]
compensates the aspect of longitude to latitude of the map.
Without the compensation the map looks a little longer since 1 grid corresponds to 1 dot angular (or n times of it). In case that you have to examine the visibility very in detail till one grid this compensation has a disadvantage that the data will be lost by the compression in the latitude direction.

[State Border Color]
enables selection of the state border color for the list.

[No Data Color]
defines the color when no map is found.

(2) Color Palette Selection

The colors can be modified by the palette file since the colors of the map are defined by the palette file. The palette file has the   PAL extension. There are some palette files are prepared as default.
For selection these palette files select [View] - [Select Palette] or click  button and select a file on the list.

Also the user can edit them by using the edit function.

[Edit]

is used to edit a palette.
The palette can specify seven colors for the altitude. At least one color of the sea and two colors for the altitude must be defined. The colors of the latitudes must be listed in the sequence from the lower to higher.
The colors not specified are interpolated automatically.

[New]

creates a new palette.

[delete]

deletes the palette.
