4.1 Supported Data

Supported GPS data formats are; data file downloaded form a GPS equipment of the GARMIN via a PCX software or data from an equipment which provides with the compatible data format, and data in POT format compatible with DmapWin(@nifty FGPS) standard format.

(1)TRK File

This has a compatible data format with PCX5. There are some TRK files which are not compatible with PCX5. Please be careful.
The TRK consists of a series of consecutive point data to display the route. A TRK data may consist of some different paths.

Example:
H  SOFTWARE NAME & VERSION
I  PCX5 2.05
H  R DATUM                IDX DA             DF             DX             DY             DZ

The WPT file format which was output by the Waypoint+ is not supported. Please select POT format below for the Waypoint+.
(3)RTE File
This file is compatible with PCX5. There are some RTE files which are not compatible with PCX5. Please be careful.
The RTE is data consists of connections by lines between way points.
This can be used as route data.
(4)POT File
This is a standard output format ot the DampWin and consists of waypoints, tracks, and routes.
For sample and detail information of this file please refer to @nifty FGPS or Home Page of Mr.Nakazawa (both in Japanese).
If you read data of the Waypoint a free software by Mr. B.Hildebrand select [POT Format Standard].

About DATUM conversion

Normally no DATUM is specified in an elevation data.
Consequently the DATUM conversion is done according to the conditions below.

(a)Digital Map of the Geographic Survey Institute Japan or its compatible data
TOKYO-DATUM is supposed. The distance between the TOKYO central coordination and WGS coordination is supposed to be (-146.43, 507.89, 681.46).
Even if the GPS data have an original conversion parameter the values above are used.

(b)Other elevation data
For other elevation data the WGS84 is supposed as the DATUM.
When a GPS data is read each GPS data point are converted to the DATUM.

The DATUM for the Map Viewer can selected by [View] - [Select Datum].
